DESCRIPTION
Limited to 750 pieces, the Pilot’s Watch Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good” is the first Laureus special edition watch to feature a blue ceramic case. It is the 15th special edition with which IWC supports over 250 programmes from Laureus Sport for worldwide.
For the first time, this Laureus special edition combines a dial in the typical Laureus blue with a hard and scratch-resistant blue ceramic case. The dark blue hue is the result of a complex manufacturing process. In this process, zirconium oxide is mixed with other metallic oxides, shaped, and then sintered in a furnace.
The IWC-manufactured 32111 calibre movement ensures a precise rate. Thanks to an improved barrel, it offers an impressive power reserve of 120 hours. This pilot’s watch, too, features a soft iron inner case to protect the movement from the effects of magnetic fields. The titanium case back is engraved with the winning drawing from the competition that IWC organizes every year for programmes supported by Laureus Sport for Good.
The winning drawing was submitted by 12-year-old Melissa Mejía Castilla from Colombia and is entitled “Vivir en Armonía” (Live in Peace). Melissa participates in activities organized by Fundación Colombianitos, an organization promoting gender equality through sport, among other things. Limited to 750 pieces, this sporty pilot’s watch is fitted with a blue rubber strap with textile inlay.
